Boating enthusiasts will immediately recognize this as a prop shaft. It takes a few seconds for the brain to process the worker on the platform standing next to the shaft – we’re just not accustomed to seeing one quite that large (keep it “G”, boys). It’s one of the shafts on CVN-70 currently in dry-dock.
