There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne’er express, yet cannot all conceal.— Lord Byron, (George Gordon)
Didn’t get to Maine this year (or Colorado or Abaco). The last few days of perfect fall weather got me a bit homesick and I started clicking back through images from previous years. The one above was taken about this time of year in Baxter State Park on a hike up Katahdin.
Next year? Even if I have to walk. I hear there’s a trail.

I am the kicker! Picture is bootifoo Steve, always enjoy your blog. I would be content just looking at that scenery from the water but noooooo you have to hike it—
Had a wonderful time camping with my girls (wife +3) in summer of ’83 along side Katahdin. Momma Bear and 2 cubs made for an interesting night.
