Canoe Shop

The 1937 Old Town is coming along nicely but still needs more time. I had been storing the first Cheemaun 15 I built on top of the form but needed the form to start #2 after milling the rails, stems, and ribs. I didn’t want to put #1 out back where the dogs would pee on it so I had to come up with a solution to storing one canoe and working on two more all within the space of one garage bay.

Rigged a lift for #1, Old Town on the cradles, and form with stems and rails clamped.

Why start another before finishing the restore job? There are several points in the building process that require waiting while shapes set, filler cures, etc. so it’s not as nuts as my wife thinks. It’s all about time and space management!

Uh-oh, rather looks like you’re starting an assembly line!! Pretty soon there will be little canoes, too!

Starting to look something like a hanger deck.
