Mutiny

Mutiny

by Steve on October 5, 2010

If you thought the issue of co-ed combat crews on fleet units got messy, this has the feel of the ’60’s all over again! Somebody thinks that civilian mariners will be cheaper, take better care of their equipment, and work harder than Navy sailors? Seriously? They don’t know the bunch I had the honor of serving with.

Fleet officials are studying how civil-service mariners could take the place of sailors aboard the Navy’s amphibious ships in as soon as the next five years, in what would be the biggest change to the surface force in the history of the modern Navy…

I wonder how much money we’ll flush studying this prime bit of stupidity?
