Treason

TREASON – This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The guilty party? NBC.

This morning on The Today Show NBC ran a piece on “The new al-Qaeda” featuring interviews with both former and active members. (I hope someone was taking notes.) The alleged active members were covered head to toe except for their eyes as they bragged about their future.

Is al-Qaeda growing and gaining strength? The factual answer to that question is not important – by giving terrorists air-time on a network broadcast, NBC conferred upon them the appearance of legitimacy and strength. Perception is the game here, reality has no place on this stage. If the public believes what these men are saying, they have succeeded. Propaganda is a very real weapon in the hands of a terrorist. NBC aided our enemy by allowing them to broadcast their message into our homes.

Hanoi Jane must be smiling.
