Government Aid

It’s amazing to me that the Obama administration isn’t being run out of town for its inability to actually do anything to stop the disaster on the seabed down in the Gulf of Mexico. The President desperately wants to avoid his own Katrina but with every day that passes, his own legacy of ineptitude is being written.

Two pearls from the BBC:

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar pledged to “keep our boot on their neck until the job gets done”.

Ms Napolitano said: “We are going to stay on this and stay on BP until this gets done and it gets done the right way.”

Now I can sleep better knowing that the full resources of our federal government are being thrown at the root of the problem. The real laugh is listening to Salazar threaten to pull BP off the operation and turn it over to the Feds to finish up. That will never happen for two reasons: (1) if the bureaucrats had any idea how to fix the problem they would have already done so and (2) once they own the problem, its theirs. No handing it back to BP at that point.
